Racial Justice

A woman in a tan coat is browsing items on a Christmas-themed table set up for a St. James School event. The table displays various pamphlets, jars of jam, and wooden crafts. Behind the table, two young men and a woman are manning the booth, with boxes and shelves of items nearby. The room has cream-colored walls, an exit sign, and a wooden floor.

St. Andrew’s strives for racial reconciliation and justice in our personal lives, our local community and diocese, and our society. We come together for personal education and reflection, prayer for healing, group discussions, advocacy work, and collaborative ministries for racial justice across our diocese. Some of the ways we do this include:

  • Racial Justice Healing Service and Discussion - Our parish group meets on Zoom on Mondays at 7pm to pray for healing and reconciliation, as well as to discuss and organize. This service is continually expanding to include other churches that are also engaged in this work, and provides a time for shared reflection and action.

  • Community Organizing and Partnerships - We partner with other faith communities and organizations across our region to collaboratively identify and work for specific objectives, such as fair funding for education in Pennsylvania, that will advance racial justice. In addition to shared organizing, we also seek to develop relationships, friendships, and social opportunities that cross the lines of racial estrangement and build beloved community.
